Ms. Wesley on "December"

Happy Holidays! It’s hard to believe we are already in the month of December. I hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and that you were able to spend it with loved ones. We have been very busy at Malley Drive. You should have received your child’s first trimester report card on November 24th (Kindergarten report cards will be sent home after the New Year as they are on a semester grading system). Part of December will be spent doing mid-year assessments. All students will be given a mid-year writing assessment. Additionally, many of our students will also be given a mid-year reading and math assessments. Ongoing assessments give teachers valuable information on each student’s progress to guide instruction and determine additional support that students may need.

We had much to celebrate in November. At the PBS Pride Assembly (November 24th) we honored 80 students who have exemplified one of our 5 R’s: Respect Others. Over 65 family members attended the assembly to celebrate their student’s success. Additionally, during the first trimester we had 47 students, 1st through 5th grade, who had perfect attendance. The first trimester was 62 days long! Thank you to the families of these students who were at school every day, on time and stayed the entire school day. Finally, in early December we had our PSO sponsored Holiday Gift Shop. Many students purchased gifts for family members and loved ones to share during the holiday season.

Please mark your calendar for our annual Winter Choir Concert. This year the concert will be on Wednesday, December 17th at 6:30 PM. We hope you can join us for this fun event.

As a reminder, Winter Break will be from December 19th-January 5th. The staff of Malley Drive wishes each of you a very happy holiday season. We look forward to our continued work with your student when he/she returns on January 6th.

Sincerely,

Anne Wesley
